Uncommon Brewers commissioned 19six Interiors to renovate their new location in Santa Cruz. The Sash Mills build in 1906 and was used as such until around the nineteen seventies when it was converted to mixed use spaces, as it is today. The client wanted a space that resonated with the community, kept the warmth of the historic building it would be locating its new taproom in.
The 19six team wanted to keep as much of the existing features as we could during this renovation. Harwood floors were fixed and refinished. The use of natural woods throughout the bar and incorporated into the furniture speaks to the Santa Cruz Mountains that are not too far from this location. Delineating seating spaces was completed with large potted plants that were placed on casters, so the staff could move and relocate them if they needed to open up the space.
