Dairy Products Technology Center Master Plan

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA

CALIFORNIA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY, SAN LUIS OBISPO

The California Polytechnic State University Dairy Science Department is one of the most highly acclaimed in the nation. The department houses its own dairy herd and is also home to the Dairy Products Technology Center and the Cal Poly Creamery. The Dairy Products Technology Center (DPTC), designed by 19six Architects, was the last addition to the Dairy Science facilities. It was completed in 1996 at a cost of $7.1 million. The Center was formed to help meet the growing needs of California’s dairy industry for applied research, industry training, and to develop more trained graduates for careers in the dairy food industries.

The current DPTC is undersized for this rapidly growing program. 19six was hired to help the Department define their vision in support of a future facility expansion.
